Candid ("the App", "we", "us") is built for parents and pet owners who want to capture fleeting moments. We designed Candid to be private by default. This policy explains what the App does and does not do with your information.
Candid continuously buffers the most recent ~30 seconds of camera and microphone input while the App is open and in the foreground, so you can save a moment right after it happens. This buffered footage:
A clip is written to your on-device drafts library only when you tap "Save" or when the optional laughter auto-save feature is enabled and detects laughter. Laughter detection runs on-device using Apple's Sound Analysis framework; audio is analyzed locally and is never sent anywhere. You can turn laughter auto-save off at any time in Settings.
Saved drafts are stored locally in the App's private storage and are automatically flagged for cleanup after 7 days. When you export a clip, it is saved to your device's photo library or shared through the standard iOS share sheet to the destination you choose. We have no access to your photo library beyond adding clips you explicitly export.
Candid offers an auto-renewable subscription. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. We may receive anonymous, aggregate subscription statistics from Apple (e.g. number of active subscribers) that do not identify you.
Candid is intended for adults (parents and pet owners), not for use by children. The App is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children. Because the App collects no data at all, it does not gather personal information from children under 13 (COPPA) or under the applicable age in your region.
None. Candid does not create accounts, does not require sign-in, and does not collect analytics or usage data. There is no server component that receives your information.
Because we do not collect or hold any of your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. All your content lives on your device and is under your control; deleting the App removes its drafts and buffered footage.
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at the same URL.
