How does Candid work?

While Candid is open, it continuously keeps the most recent ~30 seconds of camera and microphone buffered on your device. When something great happens, tap "Save Last 30s" and the moment is already captured — no need to react in time.

Why do I need to keep the app open?

iOS does not allow apps to use the camera in the background, so Candid can only buffer while it's open and in the foreground. You'll always see a "Buffering" indicator while it's active.

What is "Auto-save on laughter"?

When enabled (Settings), Candid listens on-device and automatically saves a clip when it hears laughter (about 15 seconds before and after). You can turn this off anytime in Settings → Auto-save on laughter, and adjust its sensitivity there too.

Where are my saved clips?

Tap the stack icon (top-right) to open Drafts. Drafts are kept for 7 days, after which you'll be prompted to clear them. Open any draft to trim it to 10 seconds and export.

How do I export or share?

Open a draft, choose your 10-second window, then tap Save to Photos to save a vertical 9:16 clip to your photo library, or Share to send it via Messages, Instagram, AirDrop, and more.

Subscription, free trial & cancelling

• Manage or cancel anytime: iPhone Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Candid.
• Switched devices or reinstalled? Tap Restore on the welcome screen.
• Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription — cancel in Settings as above.

Is my video private?

Yes. All video and audio is processed only on your device and is never uploaded. Candid has no accounts, no ads, and collects no data. See our Privacy Policy.

Camera, microphone & photo permissions

Candid needs camera and microphone access to buffer moments, and photo-library access only when you export a clip. If you declined earlier, enable them in iPhone Settings → Candid.
